Honda Impossible Adverts

Those clever advert guys have added a subtle football twist to Honda’s classic ‘Power of Dreams’ advert. First (and only?) aired just before the England vs Sweden match on tuesday.

Download it to watch again and again, High Quality (50MB) or Medium Quality (10MB).

Now might also be a good time to moan about ITV’s poor coverage of the world cup games. I don’t mean the programming in general, but ITVs RIDICULOUSLY low bitrate on Freeview. I have recorded (digitally, so don’t blame me for these figures) all the England games on both ITV and BBC. The first England group game (from the BBC) weighed in at a rather nice 7.94GB for its 3hrs 40mins of coverage. The final England group game (from ITV) weighed in at 5.15GB for its 3hrs 20mins of coverage. That equates to 4.9MBit/s for the BBC game, and a mere 3.5MBit/s for the ITV game.

So, it’s quite clear why the games look so poor on ITV, not enough bits. Come on ITV, SORT IT OUT.

[...] Scummy.org has video of an update to the Honda “Impossible Dream” tv ad, featuring vehicles from Honda history and some amazing landscapes. And music! And sideburns! The update is that they’ve added the St George’s flag to everything to support England in the World Cup. Scummy.org also has hi-res video of the clip, which is worth seeing. [...]
